footballer.pk exists to cover Pakistani football properly: the national teams, the domestic game, the federation, and the players carrying a Pakistani passport wherever they play. This page sets out the standards we hold our reporting to, and what to do when we get something wrong.
How we work
Our features are researched deliberately slowly. We aim for one substantial piece every few days rather than daily output, because the source material on this beat does not honestly support more than that, and because we would rather publish one article worth reading than five worth skimming.
- Sourcing. We read the Pakistan Football Federation’s own announcements, the Pakistani sports press, and regional football coverage. Where a story is running, we work from the full reporting behind it rather than from a headline or a feed summary. Every feature lists the sources it was built from.
- Facts before argument. Before a piece is written, the source material is broken down into every checkable fact it contains — every score, date, fee, appearance count, ranking and attributed statement, each tied back to where it came from. The article is then written from that list.
- The argument has to survive the evidence. If a piece was commissioned to make a case the sources turn out not to support, the case changes to fit what the evidence shows. We do not write around a gap.
- Length follows the evidence. How long a piece runs is decided by how much material genuinely exists, not by a word target. When there is not enough to say, we do not publish. That is why some weeks are quiet.
- Editorial responsibility. Every article is reviewed and signed off by a named editor before publication.
Photographs
We use freely licensed photography — largely Wikimedia Commons and Openverse — and we credit the photographer and the licence under every image. Free-licensed photography of Pakistani football, particularly the contemporary domestic game, is genuinely scarce. Where no suitable photograph exists we use a clearly graphic illustration rather than an image that could be mistaken for a photograph of something that did not happen.
We will not run a photograph of a player unless we are confident it is that player.
Corrections
We will get things wrong. The record for Pakistani football is patchy, contested in places, and in others simply missing, and we would rather write about it carefully than not at all. If you spot an error — a wrong date, a wrong scoreline, a misattributed quote, a misidentified player — please write to [email protected] and tell us. We will correct it and say that we have.
