Pakistan’s football development structure is set for a long-awaited boost as the Pakistan Football Federation prepares to roll out D Certificate Coaching License courses across the country in 2026.
A Long-Awaited Return
This marks the first time in several years that such courses are being organized, signaling a renewed focus on grassroots development under the current PFF leadership.
In a directive issued by COO Shahid Niaz Khokhar, provincial and regional associations have been asked to submit Expressions of Interest by April 7 to host the courses.
Nationwide Allocation Plan
Each provincial association will host multiple courses, while regional bodies including Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir will also play a role.
Both men’s and women’s coaching pathways have been included — a notable step toward inclusivity.
Eligibility and Structure
Applicants must meet criteria including:
- Age between 21 and 35
- Verified playing experience
- Minimum educational qualification (Matric/O-Levels)
- English literacy and basic computer skills
Each course will host around 30 participants and be led by three instructors, with host associations responsible for logistics including facilities and accommodation.
Why This Matters
Pakistan’s coaching ecosystem has long been underdeveloped, limiting the growth of structured football at grassroots level.
Reintroducing certification pathways could prove foundational in producing qualified coaches — a critical missing link in the country’s football pyramid.
