2026 PFF National Challenge Cup

After a long wait, domestic football finally returns. The National Challenge Cup 2026 officially begins on February 4, with 12 teams competing in one of Pakistan’s key domestic tournaments, according to a Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) press release carried by FootballPakistan.com. The competition marks an important step in reviving local football under PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani, with players getting much-needed match time after a prolonged lull in domestic action.

Groups and format

The 12 teams are divided into four groups of three, with the top two sides from each group progressing to the quarter-finals.

Group A: Navy, Pakistan Air Force, Mamsons
Group B: WAPDA (defending champions), KRL, Hazara Coal Company
Group C: Army, Railways, International Supply Company
Group D: SA Gardens, PACA, Nimso

Focus on youth and opportunities

Pakistan men’s national team head coach Nolberto Solano stressed the importance of domestic competitions, saying they are vital for young players to develop. He added that the tournament could help identify talent for the upcoming SAFF Under-20 Championship. PFF vice-president Hafiz Zakaullah called the event part of a broader effort to boost local football, while Sindh FA president Azam Khan termed the revival a positive first step toward more regular domestic competitions. With boots back on the pitch, Pakistani football finally has its engine running again.
