Pakistan Show Fight but Finish Third After Loss to Côte d’Ivoire

Abidjan: Pakistan Women’s National Team concluded their FIFA Series 2026 campaign with a resilient but ultimately unsuccessful performance, falling 2-0 to hosts Côte d’Ivoire.

Facing a side ranked significantly higher, Pakistan held firm for much of the game, with defenders Kayla Siddiqi and Isra Khan leading a disciplined backline.

Goalkeeper Zeeyana Jivraj delivered an outstanding performance, making several crucial saves to keep Pakistan in contention.

Côte d’Ivoire eventually found the breakthrough late in the first half through Ami Diallo, before adding a second in the 69th minute.

Pakistan’s challenge became even tougher after going down to 10 players following a red card to Anmol Hira.

Even with a numerical disadvantage, Pakistan continued to fight, with Zeeyana saving a penalty and denying further goals with a string of impressive stops.

Pakistan finished third in the standings with one win and two defeats. While results were mixed, the team showed clear signs of growth, particularly in defensive organization and resilience.

Coach Adeel Rizki praised the team’s discipline and highlighted the importance of such matches in long-term development.
