Abidjan: Pakistan Women’s National Team suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mauritania in their second FIFA Series 2026 match, despite producing a determined and competitive performance.
The only goal came in the 20th minute when Ramata Gengui struck from distance, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to give Mauritania the lead.
Pakistan responded with intent but were unable to convert their chances.
Nadia Khan and Mariam Mahmood both came close, while Aqsa Mushtaq tested the goalkeeper multiple times in the second half.
Despite dominating phases of play, the finishing touch eluded Pakistan.
Coach Adeel Rizki admitted his side started slowly and pointed to physicality and missed chances as key factors.
He also acknowledged a possible dip in intensity following the emphatic opening win.
The result left Pakistan with three points from two matches, setting up a challenging final fixture against hosts Côte d’Ivoire.
